Sustainable Business Network

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Sustainable Business Network met at the Winchester Hotel on March 15th. The event, targeted specifically at businesses either interested in or already pursuing sustainable business practices, focused on this occasion on the issue of energy. Delegates were treated to a range of presentations, keeping them up to date on the relevant legislation as well as detailing some practical and inspirational examples of the changes companies can make and the impacts they can have. Further and copies of the different presentations can be found on the Egeneration website: http://www.egeneration.co.uk/hants.

The meeting was well attended and feedback from the day has been extremely positive. However, given the recent staffing changes (see the last issue of the HNRI Newsletter) plans are already underway to make the next meeting – on June 14th – even bigger and better, with a new format which will enable far greater opportunities for discussion and problem-sharing between businesses, and an open question-and-answer session where delegates can raise issues with a panel of experts. There will also be an enhanced trade fair and networking element, which should ensure that everyone attending will find the meeting both relevant and hopefully valuable to their business.

The theme of the next event will be water. Given the current concern over the water situation in Southern England for 2006, and the implications this has for businesses as well as for individuals, it is expected to generate a lot of interest.
