Beneficial Green-Works

Last year (after becoming customers ourselves) we featured Green-Works South in the NRI newsletter. Their not-for-profit organisation bridges the gap between companies and government bodies with redundant office furniture and worthy causes that need it most. A major difference from previous operations of this type is that a charge is made to the donating organisations, this subsidises collection, warehousing, recycling and some overheads. The donating organisations (who include HSBC, Procter & Gamble, the DTI, the Natural History Museum and many more) are then provided with a complete audit trail of where the office furniture has ended up and thus able to fulfil part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. The furniture is then sold at very low cost to schools, charities, community groups, hospitals and start-up businesses. These cost savings allow precious resources to be spent on core activities, whilst also being part of a unique initiative that creates valuable employment and training opportunities for disadvantaged people. If you’re organisation is interested in donating, then please call 0845 230 2 231 to get a quotation (please note they do not collect single items or small quantities).

This award-winning initiative has expanded in the south to become Beneficial Green-Works. It will enable even more organisations to have access to a whole range of serviceable items that otherwise could have been wasted in a landfill site. If you have any questions e-mail: info@green-works.co.uk

Case Study:

ATL Ltd: - We had money to start a business and hadn’t really through about the cost of office furniture, when we did look at it, I couldn’t believe how much everything cost and was looking at the possibility of having to waste our start-up capital on heavily depreciating assets. Over the course of a business lunch conversation, Green-Works was mentioned, and after further investigation we got everything we needed for much less than we had allocated for furnishings, as a result we were able to afford better IT equipment and a coffee machine! It really is a very good idea, helping the environment, people and ideal for businesses just starting out. (Josh Partridge, Managing Director, ATL Ltd, an IT Consultancy working predominantly in Basingstoke.)

The more furniture that can be re-used, the less excess waste will be sent to Britain’s landfill sites and the less uncertified wood will be made into new furniture.
