Hampshire Economic Partnership

The Hampshire Economic Partnership (HEP) was set up in 1992 and brings together business and local government to influence government policy and support the economic prosperity of Hampshire.

HEP focuses its work to the Business Community through 13 trade sector task groups: ►Environment   ►Building & Construction  ►Rural Economy ► Tourism ► Aerospace  ►Defence  ►Innovation & Enterprise  ►Skills  ►Transportation & Logistics  ►Research & Intelligence  ►Investment, Land & Property  ►Engineering  ►Marine.

Each task group being formed of representatives from that sector who best reflect the current business needs in that area.  The task groups create a link between regional & local government and Hampshire Businesses.

The task groups form the cornerstone of the HEP – providing a close link to the Hampshire economy, across all sectors.

The Environment task group is where we (HNRI) comes in - as we are it!  Our advisory group is the link between businesses within the county and the HEP.  The group meets every two months at various locations and is made up of representatives of organisations who have an interest in developing the sustainable use of natural resources in the region.

The HEP’s value is currently defined across 5 key areas:

Independence      - Increasingly, HEP is being seen as a credible and independent organisation that can provide a platform for forming partnerships which might not have formed of their own accord.

- Stronger links are being developed with various other partnership organisations such as South East Economic Partnership, while at the same time building on its working relationship with bodies like SEEDA and the Government Office for the South East (GOSE).

- HEP have developed a brand identity, based on Task Group activities so as to increase awareness among the target audience over the coming years.

Task Groups        - Each of the Task Groups are directly linked with Hampshire businesses, providing a network across the county

- The Task Groups provide the opportunity for greater added value through mentoring, best practice opportunities and the ability to exert greater influence on policy than if the organisations were acting on their own.

-Through the Task Group network, HEP now has the ability to host events and visits to the region.

Board                     - Senior level representation ensures strong commitment to the development of HEP

- Through the board, HEP is established as an organisation that is broadly representative and as such, the authority of HEP is established and recognised.

Executive               -  HEP has undertaken to co-ordinate response from Stakeholders for the development of the strategic priorities and actions plans for the SEEDA Regional Economic Strategy

Voluntary Support   - HEP has significant voluntary support, in particular from the business sector, which ensures that it is the only independent economic partnership organisation in Hampshire.
